Sanford Held to Circuit Court in Beer License Case
On the Milwaukee passenger arrival Monday afternoon Justice McKinley kept the State versus William D. Sanford in view with defense by Judge Aikens and F M Goodykoontz. Sanford faced a charge of selling beer without a wholesale license. Witness Frank Trinar testified he bought an eight gallon keg two weeks prior for Sanford. Sheriff opened the keg yesterday proving it contained beer. Agent Halphide testified Sanford shipped beer in July. Judge Aiken urged dismissal but Sanford was bound over to circuit court in $200 bonds. Widmann said he has no vendetta against wholesale beer sales, only lawful compliance.
