The city council met in a special session Thursday to canvass the Tuesday election results with little change from prior publications. The council questioned the validity of Mrs May Bobbs vote for the at large education board seat and consulted City Attorney Spangler about issuing a certificate of election.

Rousing War Demonstration Inspires Militia Rally
Friday in Mitchell a spontaneous display followed the declaration of war. Sixty seven men formed a GET UP MILITIA COMPANY ready to go as crowds cheered and flags flew. The town lauded patriotism with speeches by Col. J. M. Adams Rev. Durant and L. E. Whitcher while a Cubano flag joined American banners in a public oath of support.
