Shackleford Wins Eighth Missouri District Victory

In the Eighth Missouri District race on Tremlay Judge Shackleford defeated Voshall by 2653 votes. The Populist drew 790 votes and did not affect GOP losses across their counties, as opposition had a school district organization throughout the district.

Flower Parade to Crown Queen of Carnival Distinction

The Marshall Flower Carnival names a Queen and nine Maids of Honor by popular vote. Nominated by the Mistletoe Club, candidates include Lizzie Hammer, Nellie Martin, Rena Reed, Mattie Richardson, Nell Owens, Leta Hancock, Minnie Ryan, Minnie Murrell, Grace Houston, Helle Richardson, Clara Irvine, and Mattie Kea. The central event during Carnival week features stylish parades with ornate horse-drawn carriages competing for the prize.

Blackwater Bridge Runaway Near Sedalia-Marshal Road

An accident on the Sedalia Marshall road twelve miles south of here involved a hay wagon driven by a boy named Arthur Brayman and a team owned by Chas Zeigle. The wagon ran away on a rocky hill. the driver was thrown but held the lines, and the horses dragged them toward a buggy containing Zeigle and his son and daughter. Miraculously no lives were lost though near disaster occurred. Posts from Thursday’s K C Drovers Journal note Mt Leonard steer sales and local stock movements in St Louis.

Live Stock World Report From Blackburn Market

P Taylor of Blackburn Missouri will pick the sheep at market today with a small bunch of Shropshire ewes averaging about six years old and bedding stock. A few head of feeder lambs sold for around 5.50 per head. Reports indicate good corn prospects in the area.
