M C Marksbury, once of Slater, was shot through the heart between Alma and Corder while traveling by train. Robbery suspected as $4500 in money was found on him. He died after a struggle. body sent to Kansas City with identity confirmed by Slater residents. Parents live in Kentucky.

Old Settlers at Sappington's Grove Program Draws Pioneers
The Saline County Pioneers held their annual reunion at Sappington's Grove on a hot September day. Marshall women provided dinner while Rev Bolton led an invocation and Mayor Miller welcomed attendees. Senator Vandiver, a railroad commissioner candidate, spoke. memorials were read for Lankford Brown Davis Rea and others as the afternoon closed with a band and fond recollections.

Longwood stockmen sell mixed cattle in St Louis market
Lower Bros. and Taylor of Longwood Missouri sold 1.68 and 1.404 and 1.400 pound steers at 5 to 6 dollars in St Louis markets. Nelson Morin & Co. bought the entire consignment. Kolf & Gray delivered loads from Blackium with 105 head of 280% pound steers at 5.45 to Nelson Morris & Co. Townley & Co. Marshall sent feeding steers to Kansas City. Lail Marshall notes an ember 24 sale of Voland Chinas with many animals including grand boars and yearlings.
