William J Bryan died at his mother Hannah Bryan's home in Malta Bend at noon Thursday aged 61. He was a bachelor who lived on the farm and died of tuberculosis of the throat. Survived by mother, two sisters Abbie Davis and Laura Bryan, and three brothers Emmett Marvin and Robert Lee. Funeral services were held at the residence at 10 a m Saturday with burial at Grand Pass.

The Ferguson household lost their home and most furnishings when a Friday night fire consumed the house during Lincoln school closing exercises at the opera house. Insurance covered 1000 dollars for building and goods. a prized piano suffered one of the heaviest losses. The family, a respected colored family in Marshall, received sympathy from many friends.
