Death Of Farmer Louis Friemonth Struck By Freight Train
Friends report the death of Louis Friemonth a West Glasgow farmer and former Glas gow ferryman after he was struck by a C A freight train near the Glasgow bridge last Sunday. An inquest was held in Glasgow and the body later moved to his home at the Kettler farm. He was sixty years old survived by a wife and five children. A longtime Republican subscriber and Elmwood Baptist Church member he died after years at farming following his ferrying work. Funeral services were held at Elmwood Methodist Church Monday at 9 oclock led by Rev J A Randalia. Community expresses deep sympathy to the family.

Obituary of John L. Salmons, longtime Cooper settler
John L. Salmons died at his son J. W. Salmons’ home six miles southwest of Bunceton on Tuesday May ith at age 78 years 4 months 19 days from stomach trouble. Born in 1839 in Germantown North Carolina he moved to Missouri with his parents near Foreton later joined a cattle drive to California in 1852. He traveled by water around South America stayed in Cuba then returned to Boonville via St Louis and the Missouri River. He married Marguerite Smith in 1859 and had nine children eight living. His wife died in 1833 leaving eight children. He never remarried. Survived by a brother Joseph Salmons of Bunceton his remains were buried in Bunceton after a funeral led by Rev. H. P. Jones of the M E Church.

Mischief After Hours at Local Papers
At about 11 pm Tuesday unknown assailants hurled a rock into the Democrat-News office and fired several shots. Linotype operator W L Preston reports being struck accidentally and says he is dying one crime. A reward of 5 is offered for the arrest of the guilty. Thirty minutes earlier a prowler was seen near the Republican backyard and scared away. The night before the office was broken into but nothing appears missing.

Burned man saved by water plunge after harness fire
Dr. D C Gore attended Ed Gauldin of Stanhope who was badly burned Friday when hot grease ignited his clothes during harnessing. He jumped into a nearby water tank to extinguish the flames and escaped serious injury.

A Monday evening accident near the Discharge area left Virgil Edmonds with a bullet wound in the right arm after a .22 rifle discharged while he and 12 year old Wille Barrett attempted to shoot fish. The rifle briefly sang past his head as the bullet exited near the shoulder and was treated locally.

Man Hospitalized After Mule Attack at Show Yard
