Death of Dorothy Kathryn Renick in Grand Pass May 10 1912

The obituary honors Dorothy Kathryn Renick born July 12 188 near Carro ll county. She lived in Kansas City twelve years at Acme Mattress Co as forelady and bookkeeper. Funeral conducted by Rev L Pean and Rev Arnold. She supported church and charity, suffered long with rheumatism and illness, and is said to be in Heaven on the Golden Shore.

Maude Dennis Dies in Clay Township at About 40

Mrs. Maude Dennis wife of man Dennis died at her home in Clay township on Friday May 3. Funeral services were conducted by Rev T Pritchett at Mt Horeb on Saturday at 2 pm and her remains were interred in the church yard there. She was about 40 years old and survived by her husband and four children.

Mrs Atchley Died After Long Illness at 64

Mrs Atchley died Thursday May 6 at her Odell and Gordon home after a long illness of heart trouble aged 64. She is survived by nine children including J R Atchley Charles Mrs F A Weat and Mrs L A Doughty of Marshall and others in Kansas Oregon and Missouri. Also two sisters Mrs B Kirk and Mrs A M Roark. She was a Baptist church member in Lebanon for 15 years. Funeral conducted by Rev Clarence Hodge at the residence Friday afternoon. Burial in Ridge Park cemetery with pallbearers including two sons and two sons-in-law.

Brown dies after winter illness at son-in-law home

Brown a prominent Hardeman farmer and cattle feeder died Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the home of his son-in-law Dr J B Connell after a winter illness. He was about 60 years old and survived by his widow and three children Otto Eddie and Mrs Connell. Funeral services were held at the residence Wednesday at 2 p.m. and he was buried in Ridge Park Cemetery.

Richard Flynn a Colony resident from St Louis died Wednesday morning from illness at about age twenty. The body lies at Walkers Undertaking Establishment awaiting instructions.

Buford-Hallie Buford Child Dies in May Funeral

Buford-Hallie, daughter of William and Savannah Buford, died Sunday May 12 at 11 am aged three years two months twenty one days. Survived by four brothers and four sisters, youngest child and cherished at home. Remains buried Monday at 4 pm in Elmwood Cemetery. Services conducted by Reverend Payton and Reynolds.

Prominent Citizen Dead in Burneton Funeral Pending

Mra JAR Black, a prominent local figure, is reported dead after a serious illness of her father Sip Ps Balmons. Mrs Black had returned from tours and said the funeral occurred at Burneton. More particulars are expected next week.

Marshall Christian Church Reaches Fundraising Milestone

The Marshall church raised about 624000 for rebuilding, with Sunday services drawing a large, eager crowd led by Rev. Geo L Spivey. Over 500 pupils attended Sunday school at 9 15 am and offerings exceeded 12000 during the morning, plus 1340 in the afternoon, as trustees received keys from the building committee. The remodeled edifice, erected in 1895 at a cost of 5000, now features a main auditorium with 1000 seating, a 60 seat choir, twenty Sunday School rooms, a kitchen and study, plus a reading room and gym planned for the basement. Superintendent J A Gordon and others praised the parishioners of 559 members for their hard work and vision.

Rev Henry Austin to Lead Pirat Pres byterian Church

The Pirat Pres byterian Church welcomes Rev Henry Austin of Weatherford Texas who received a unanimous call and will begin work on the first Sunday in July. He comes highly recommended and impressed the congregation with his reception. J S Huff’s Sunday School class purchased a new piano from Allen Piano Co with Huff and Allen aiding in the deal. The Episcopal church had no services Sunday due to Rector Bohn’s death at Excelsior Springs. Rev Wol will preach at Mt Horeb Sunday at 3:99 pm. The First Baptist will hear a Persian student F Hotar cetribe discuss land and customs. At night the pastor will speak on The Pentecostal Revival. Dr W B H Black traveled to Louisville Kentucky Tuesday for the Presbyterian General Assembly.

Shotting dispute at McClure Flats ends with a gunshot

A dispute over money owed for board at 53 McClure flats led 18 year old Frank Lancaster to fire a shot into the air at his half brother Louis Mathews, 49, after a confrontation with his mother and another half brother. Lancaster lived with them and is held for questioning.

Tragedy in Kansas City as Mother Kills Man Found by Her Sons

In Kansas City a confrontation led to Mathews being fatally shot by Lancaster who fired four shots as an advancing man. Mathews dies soon after being carried into a house. Lancaster arrested at Walnut Street station. The mother, known as Mrs Joplin, has three marriages and three sons Lou Mathews 10, Robert Joplin 28, and Frank 18, from Blackburn Mo. They moved to Kansas City twelve years ago amid family tensions. Sunday’s Kansas City Journal.

Runaway Mules Injure Local Farmer Near Hernton

Austin Stephenson of Mia Riggios firm near Hernton suffered a severe facial laceration and leg injuries after a team of mules bolted Friday. His nephew, driving the team, failed to control them as Stephenson was thrown forward. Dr. J. Dickson treated him, and he has since recovered enough to leave bed.
