Margaret Abney Wilhelm, 62, died at her East Wood home Friday after years of illness and nervous troubles. Wife of J. J. Wilhelm, she had lived in Saline County 20 years. Funeral Saturday at 2 PM from the residence, conducted by Rev. A. R. Faris, at Rilke Park Cemetery.
Kirby Jackson aged 20 died at the home of George Whittleton at 6048 Odell on Saturday May 17 at 7 p m from tuberculosis of the throat. The funeral was Sunday at 2 p m with burial at Ridge Park. He was raised in Marshall by relatives including Frank Martin and had lived in Kansas City for several years. He and his wife had come to Marshall two weeks ago to visit Mrs Whittleton, his cousin.
Chas P Talbott 40 died at his parents home two miles south of Marshall on Sedalia road after a long tuberculosis illness. Born in Kentucky and raised in Saline County he had been away about 15 years, with only occasional returns. Funeral services were conducted at the Talbott home Thursday afternoon.

Mrs Chiia Zimmerman aged resident of Hardeman died Saturday night. Funeral held Wednesday with many relatives and friends in attendance. She is survived by husband Willie Hawking. She died at Laura Jacksons home in the city Monday evening of heart trouble. Miss sent later in Chicago to take charge of the remains.
Will Jackson of Independence will deliver an address to the Lincoln school graduates at their closing exercises. The six graduates include Letcher Porter Nannie Stephena Reva Gorham Aurora Henderson Fannie Hughes and Lillian Freeland. Prof Kenner, long time principal of the Marshall colored school, is praised for his work among the city’s colored population.
Saline county will form a farm adviser bureau after raised funds with state aid. The county court allotted $1,500 annually for three years and secured a guarantee to reimburse that sum. A suitable adviser has yet to be chosen, with selection pending finding the right candidate.

The Daughters of the American Revolution dedicated the Banta Fe trail marker in the northwest corner of the courthouse yard last Friday afternoon May 16. An Old Trail booster party of 12 automobiles from Kansas City attended, with a lunch at Christon church basement and ceremonies at 2 pm witnessed by thousands including Marshall schoolchildren. John VanFrant of Kansas City gave the dedication address, Mayor Ed J. Mitchell accepted the marker, and the party departed for Boonville Arrow Rock then New Franklin, where a large Old Trail dedication followed.
A son named Ralph Hereford Jr was born May 17 at 426 Ener Arrow to Mr and Mrs Ralph HM Duggins. Another son, Wright Lloyd Jr, arrived May 18 in Kansas City to Mr and Mrs Wright Lloyd, whose daughter is Mrs D D Dugelos. The Duggins family marks its fourth new grandchild in seven weeks as Mr and Mrs George Dugine welcomed twins on April 2, with grandparents delighted by the growing clan.
Missouri Valley College swept a two game set with Westminster at Fulton on Monday and Tuesday. Rolling pitched the Tuesday win, Neal hit a home run for MV C, and Kirkland struck out 18 in the Monday game. The Tuesday victory gave MV C the college conference title against Central, Westminster, Drury, Jewell, and Warrensburg Normal Colleges.
Shackelford patrons have voted bonds to erect a $1,500 fish school building. Construction will start soon. Miss Catherine Desmond will oversee the high school and Miss Mattle Speck will direct the grades for the coming year. Citizens boast of their progressive spirit.
C. L. Reppenhagen celebrated the opening of a new fireproof modern garage located on the Santa Fe trail, first door west of J. W. Robertson's back. The handsome structure spans 60 feet in front and 104 feet in depth.
Paris Walker installed this week a Hlatvigan lighting system in his undertaking establishment on South Lafayette. The gas is employed in steel bottles by the Southwestern Blaugas company of Kansas City and makes a remarkably brilliant and soft light.
Mo Valley College students rehearse an opera titled The Pennants under the direction of Prof. Fichthors for a performance on Wednesday evening May 28 at The Pannents.
Mrs. C K Scott spent Sunday with her cousin near Slater, enjoying a quiet family visit and catching up on news in the rural community.
Saline County reshaped by railroads and farms, shifting from tobacco and hemp to corn and wheat as the dominant staples. Tobacco declined after the Civil War. eastern townships Camelbridge Arrow Rock led, but production waned by the 20th century with little remaining. Mr James Bell of the county near Shackelford wed Miss Kathrine May Solomon daughter of Peter Solomon on Wednesday May 21 at 0 a m. at St Peters Catholic church with Father Francia J O Neill officiating. A reception followed at the bride’s country home before the couple begins housekeeping on the Bell farm near Shackelford.
