Quiet Tuesday election results show 535 for changing Marshall from fourth to third class with 61 against. The paper runs a circular criticizing city printing contracts, urging open bidding and monetary restraint to prevent debt and tax hikes. It argues current rates are inflated and urges voters to oppose the change until officers are properly chosen.

The 10 year old Arthur Leroy Bristow died at his home on South Jefferson Ave on Wednesday evening February 28 from appendicitis. He was a member of the First M E Church and awaits burial at Ridge Park cemetery after 2 pm services led by Rev. H R Osborne. Also noted are the deaths of Florence Benton, 2nd daughter of Penn Benton, from typhoid fever February 20, buried at Fairview. Ames Bull of Texas, about 40, buried Shirer cemetery near Norton. and Mrs C K Moore, on the Chastain farm, February 4 o'clock, from consumption, buried Ridge Park after Rev J E Abbott services.
National Stock Yards reports a thin start to the week with beef steers regaining losses from last week. Export grades 1050 to 1250 lb fetch 4.00 to 5.23, with typical fat steers 4.55 to 4.00. Butcher cattle show slight strength. odd stall-fed cows reach 3.50 to 3.00, bulk sold around 3.50 to 3.00.
Hog prices reach a peak of 86.40 in the west with Kansas City at 20 cents lower, Chicago prices firmer. A severe storm curbs country buyers and stocker feeder receipts while the high school notes report Delphian Society activities, weather delays, and upcoming programs at Marshall High School.
