William Rutherford Dies at Home Aged 68
William Rutherford died at his home about ten miles west of town on Monday June 6 after a long illness at age 68. His funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at Union Cemetery conducted by Rev. B. T. Wharton. He is survived by his wife and several children.

Bettie Bell Toucy Dies After Long Illness Near Miami
Bettie Bell Toucy, of near Miami, died at her aunt Lydia Toucy’s home on June 3 after an eight month illness. Born November 18, 1882 in Saline County, she was the daughter of T. J. Toucy. She leaves a sister, a brother, and many relatives and friends. She was 27 years six months, and fifteen days old.

Murdered Kansas City man Ernest Gale buried in Arrow Rock
Ernest Gale a former Union Hill resident from Arrow Rock was killed in Kansas City on Saturday by a throat cutting. His body was brought back to Arrow Rock and interred at Sappington cemetery on Tuesday. He had lived in Kansas City for several years with Geo Mills in Union Hill.

Wednesday Storm Delivers Record Rain and Destruction
A midweek storm brought heavier rain than usual and strong winds across Marshall, Kansas City, and Jefferson City. In Marshall, trees fell and an apple tree uprooted, with about two inches of rain recorded and creeks rising. Kansas City saw 64 mile per hour winds and 1.63 inches in 15 minutes. Jefferson City reports severe damage to penitentiary buildings, unroofing Hall E and other facilities.
