He moved to Marshall in 1870, had two marriages producing several children, and was a longtime member of the Marshall Christian Church. Susan Slaughter a 65 year old inmate at the colony died at her North Co Way home on Sunday June 1 1913 of apoplexy. She was a laundry worker at the colony and a respected colored woman. Colony officials hosted a large delegation of inmates to attend the funeral, which was held Tuesday afternoon at Northastrer Methodist Church under the G M T Lodge auspices. She is survived by her husband dll Slaughter.
