Marshall Republicans See Governor for Board Appointments
Marshall observers report Governor Dockery will appoint a five member board for the F. M. S. Two women, Mrs. Dora Hall and Miss Pearl Mitchell, are likely to serve. New members include Judge H. C. McDougal of Kansas City and Dr. John R. Hall of Marshall, replacing O Day and P. H. Rea. The board factions stem from last spring’s E. D. Martin and Doctor Wheeler contest, with Martin seeking revenge as a four year legislator.

Kansas City buyers shipped seven cattle cars from Saline county while feeders were purchased by R B Wright Sons and others. The F B Lotham Hereford sale averaged 423 per head with six of fifty under 300 and ten heifers at 500 or more. The first Commoner edition appeared January 23 with 50 008 copies, no ads, and Bryan fed the first press with friends receiving souvenir copies signed by W J Bryan.

They aim to invite Senator M A Hanna to address the Lincoln birthday celebration in Kansas City. The senator showed interest and may accept.

Robbers Hold Up Al Chipp in Home for $65 Cash
Two masked men burst into Al Chipp’s cottage on the grounds. They threatened him at gunpoint, rifled pockets, and took $65 in cash before fleeing. Chipp, recently arrived from St. Joseph with Dr. C. B. Simcoe, believes the robbers were white and may have watched him earlier when he tried to sell a horse. The crime was discovered the next day. investigators have few leads due to masks and scant description. The incident spurred police to review nearby activity and potential accomplices.
