Wealthy Saline citizen George Murrell dies at 97
George A. Murrell long prominent Saline financier and benefactor died at his son Len Murrell’s home on Eastwood Ave after a severe chill. Born Feb 18 1826 in Glasgow he moved to Saline in 1851 and later lived in Marshall. Survived by son Len and daughter Minnie, he led Wood & Huston Bank for 25 years and funded city hospital endowment. Funeral Sunday at M E Church South with Rev Faris and Dr Williams. burial Ridge Park cemetery.

Thos J Cook Dies in Colorado After Illness
Thos J Cook died at his Colorado home after a three week illness on Tuesday morning November 28 1911. Born in Kentucky in 1818 he lived in Indiana Missouri and later claimed land near Stonington Colorado with his daughter Mrs Basle Stephens. He married Margaret Yeager in 1876 and had six children, all living in Colorado. His wife died twenty years ago. Burial was at Mt Olive Cemetery on Friday December 1 with many friends paying respects and leaving flowers. The family thanks friends in Colorado and Galine for support.

Seven Year Old Walton Smith Injured In Horse Accident
W. W. Umbarger of Wilton Springs reported that Walton Smith, seven, son of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Smith, was seriously injured Saturday at Salt Park bridge when thrown from a horse. Doctors Hall and Gore attended. he remained unconscious but his recovery chance was stated as good.

Thanksgiving Hunting Accidents Injure Several Men
A series of hunting accidents on Thanksgiving left Martin Cordeen with two fingers severed and facial injuries, doctors from Kansas City tending him. Gus Buesing sustained a near eye wound, lightly missing the eye. Mr. Schumaker shot his foot, and another man south of Concordia had a leg amputated after a leg wound. Widow Ben Davis Awarded Six Thousand Damages
Mrs. Ben Davis of Slater won six thousand dollars last week in Mexico for her husband’s death. He was killed at Farber on December 7, 1910 when the Hummer collided with a freight train.
