Fur trapping can play important economic role in province
Saskatchewan fur trapping, the province's oldest industry, could grow as the economy diversifies. Harold Read, fur supervisor, completed a 10 day southern tour to assess expanding production and notes southern Saskatchewan already contributes over half of annual output. He urges proper pelts handling and a forthcoming trapper's guide to promote better trapping practices while warning water shortages mean trapping should leave beaver to maintain water levels.
