University Field Crops Day at Manitoba Campus
Field Crops Day at the University of Manitoba schedules tours of facilities and displays more than 400 wheat varieties from 32 countries. The event runs July 24 and 25 starting at 1 00 pm CST with programs for farmers and their families. Highlights include the international spring wheat rust nursery and rye-wheat crosses, plus studies on soybean and rapeseed, chemical weed control, and crop rotation.

At a busy week of activities in Hamiota and Brandon, 4-H groups Isabella Stitching Bees and Isabella Seed Club won championships for displays and square dancing. Margaret Ariss and Sheila Attwood earned prizes in Brandon competitions. The District convention report was presented by Mrs. J. T. Finkbeiner, with notes from Mrs. Russel Clark and Mrs. Ken Clark. A charity appeal for an arthritic mobile clinic was also read.

July WI meeting held at Mrs L Hal home
The July WI meeting met Wednesday afternoon with eighteen members and three visitors. Mrs Searth presided as roll call asked how many years each member had belonged to the WI. The home grounds competition was postponed due to a poor growing season. A notice announced Cranda! Co op Elevator would close from July to July 24th and remain closed all day Saturdays except at harvest time.
