Jonah the runaway prophet and the mercy of God
A sermonizing retelling of the Book of Jonah emphasizes a God who pursues sinners. Jonah flees to Tarshish but is cast into a storm, saved from death by a fish, then goes to Nineveh where the city repents and God relents. The text urges readers not to run from God but to accept mercy and answer His call.
