The Miniota ratepayers met in the municipal hall with ten in attendance. W A Barrett was named chairman and J W Horner secretary, reports on the cemetery committee and sports ground title agreement were presented, bylaws to curb overnight parking discussed, and council/municipal matters including street plowing and a CPR crossing were reviewed.

On Monday January 27 eight Miniota and District Chamber of Commerce members joined Brandon Chamber of Commerce for its annual meeting. A reception and dinner followed at the Prince Edward Hotel. The program included greetings by M. L. A. R. O. Lissaman, civic remarks by Mayor S. A. Magnacca, guest introductions by D. G. Lowry, and a talk by H. W. Thompson, vice chairman of the Imperial Bank of Commerce, on "An Outside look at Brandon."

The Birdtail River Division Board met at Shoal Lake on January 10 1964 at 8 p m with Stimpson Fulton Reynolds Raphaee ru r Funk present. Mrs H Hall won a dish set at The Lucky Dollar Store last week. Several local residents traveled to Winnipeg for the weekend, including Mrs E Cadwallader and Mr L Wolowich with his mother. An exhibition hockey game saw the Purple Lads defeat the Green Boys 7 to 4, with Hankins, Steen, Hall, and Gardham scoring for the Royals.
