Municipal Council Adopts December 30 1983 Minutes

Council minutes approve the December 30 1983 meeting. They receive letters from Manitoba Good Roads Association Virden Local Health and X-ray Unit Manitoba Hospital Commission and Birdtail River School Division No 38. Several appointments and committees are named for 1964 including deputy reeve projects road, bridge and patrol committees, social welfare, and health units. A public rink meeting is requested and travel allowances set.

Miniota Board Meets Sets 1964 Appointments and Rates

A Miniota Board meeting on January 8 1964 at the Municipal Hall reviewed minutes from December 18 1963 and approved ward nominations for trustees. It established officer signing, adopted 1964 routes and rates, named committees including finance and transportation, appointed ward trustees, approved a 128 dollar Urban School Trustees Association membership, granted 50 dollars to a regional arts festival, and amended the indemnity bylaw to pay a 10 dollar per meeting chairperson allowance. The session adjourned after routine business and approvals.

District Happenings and Local Meetings Recap

Hilda Lockhart attended the Scotch Concert at Lenore Friday evening. Mrs. Flannery returned from Vancouver to the Vernon Lockhart household and joined Mr. and Mrs. V. Lockhart to Pipestone. Mrs. Doug Leland attended the U. C. W. Executive meeting in Hamiota and Civil Defence gathering there. Local boys joined forces with Miniota and Crandall hockey teams. The February U. C. W. meeting is scheduled for February 5 with Mr. Sloan to introduce The Word and the Way as part of an ideal Bonspiel Week. results will be printed next week.

Crandall Church Awards Honor Sunday School Attendees

Rev V Bowins presented certificates for attendance during Sunday School. Awards ranged from 1 to 7 years for names including Wayne Betty Anne Donna Eddie Smith Lois Allen Preston Sharon Henderson Barbara Smith June Kitz Lynne Marie Angus and Brian White. The community rallied with baking and provisioning as curlers from multiple towns entered 41 rinks. Weather notes end fragment.

Hamiota Ladies Aid Reports 1963 Hospital Support

The Hamiota Ladies Aid met January 24 in the Community Room with all 17 districts present. Treasurer’s report shows receipts 1900 and expenses 1736.58, leaving 1244.90 on hand. reports praised hospital improvements and staff gifts, with details on blood use, operations, births, and staff additions.

4H Beef Club Meet in Miniota January 6

The Miniota 4 H Beef Club held its third meeting at Len Bryants on January 6. Rinks were drawn for an invitational 4 H Bon spiel and the group heard Farm Forum on careers for rural youths. The next meeting is February 3 at Ivan Armitage’s home.

Lock Hop at Minio ta Collegiate Highlights Weekend

On Friday January 17 a Lock Hop took place at Minio ta Collegiate. On Saturday January 18 a score of 56 to 19 was recorded and the boys fell 35 to 21.

Beulah 4 H Minutes Highlight Rink Plans and Hockey Wins

Beulah 4-H held its December and January meetings at the school with Pledge and roll call. Judy Hookway read minutes, Colleen Steuart reported the treasury, and plans were set to enter a rink in the 4-H Bonspiel at Min iota.

Isabella area residents share weekend visits in Winnipeg and Shoal Lake. Church meeting at Crandall addressed repairs, reports, and board nominations. A First Aid course opened with Dr. Hudson instructing and Civil Defence support. local hospital and operation updates noted.

Miniota Community Happenings Report Bonspiel and Meetings

Five Miniota rinks joined a Crandall bonspiel last week. St. John’s ambulant course began under Civil Defence and Dr Hudson, while the Advanced Sewing Course met January 17 and resumes February 3. Scout leaders announced insurance for each cub and scout and plans for an Oak River district Ice Stampede and a Father and Son banquet February 19.
