Lightning Strikes Bogart House in Glenwood During Storm
A Glenwood residence at the northwest corner of the square was struck by lightning during a severe Mills county storm. The blaze in the attic burned a rug and damaged the furnace and chimney. Firefighters arrived as a cart collided with Timmerman & Hamilton grocery, injuring Jack Cheyney who suffered cuts and bruises and will be off work for a week.

Death From Dog Bite In Council Bluffs
Thomas Long, a Nonpareil solicitor, died after a dog bite on June 18 near Silver City. He died Saturday morning from septicemia. The dog belonged to C. C. Knight. Long was taken to a hospital in Council Bluffs. He left a wife and three children, with several siblings. His body was moved to Tuló, Nebraska, for burial beside his wife.

May's Barn Burned by Lightning Near Pacific Junction
A barn and granary owned by C. C. May west of Pacific Junction were struck by lightning Saturday night, burning around 10 pm. Horses were safe in a nearby pasture. 150 bushels of corn and hay were lost with $300 insurance on the barn and $100 on contents. Expected loss above insurance is about 200 dollars.
