Brownies and Guides celebrate Flying Up ceremony in Millbrook

On Saturday October 11 Brownies from Brownies Firs Millbrook Pack held a Flying Up for Carol Abbott to Glides and Freda Stares to Guides. Guides formed a horseshoe led by Captain Mrs Helen Duffy to greet the newcomers. Various awards were presented including year stars for Judy Jewison Barbara Trick Brier Sanderson Dianne Foottit Pam Drury Nancy Trick Carol Abbott and Vicky Medd. A piano solo by Vicky Medd and a Brownie song followed a luncheon hosted by Guides with parents attending and the Queen declared the close.

Two New Members Join Canadian Legion Ladies' Auxiliary

Twenty members attended the October 7 meeting of the Ladies' Auxiliary to Canadian Legion Branch No. 402. New members Betty Kent and Janet Don were initiated. Plans were made for a float for the Santa Claus Parade and a parade to St Thomas Church on November 9 and to the Cenotaph on November 11.

Art Reid Grows Cabbage By The Bunch In Millbrook

A local display by Art Reid wowed Millbrook residents as seven heads grew from a single root, five solid and two runts. If left longer, the crop might have produced a full bouquet of cabbage. The sight of Reid carrying a stock with multiple heads amused onlookers in this unusual horticultural display.
