Gray & Banks Limited of Bailieboro have been awarded the job of building a two class room extension to a public school in South Monaghan. Plans by Weir Cripps & Associates of Toronto call for a one storey extension about 3 000 square feet with block foundation brick and block cavity walls wood joists hardwood and terrazzo floors double hung aluminum windows acoustic tile ceiling and a 20 year bonded flat roof.
The Ladies' Auxiliary to Canadian Legion Branch No 402 hosts a Euchre evening in the Legion Hall on October 28 at 8 30. Admission is 35 cents and refreshments will be served.
The Durham County District High School Board accepted a committee recommendation to seek a new Millbrook District High School. The committee, led by Carroll Nicholls, outlined steps to file again with the Department of Education via Dr Turner. Current overcrowding has forced both Millbrook and surrounding public schools to rent extra rooms.
The 125th anniversary of Centreville Presbyterian Church in South Monaghan will be observed on Sunday October 26 with morning and evening services at 11 a.m. and 7 30 p.m. The guest speaker is Rev. R P Carter of Toronto and special music will be provided. All welcome.

The Salvation Army announces a Sunday School start in Millbrook on Sunday Oct 26 at 3 pm in the Canadian Legion Hall. An evangelistic rally follows on Oct 25 at 8 pm in the Town Hall with Brigadier and Mrs Flannigan of the Mid Ontario Division and officers from Port Hope and Cobourg. Music from bands in Port Hope and Cobourg. All ages invited. The effort aims to reach those unable to attend church.

Rev H E D Ashford D D has served the Church in home and foreign missions and in pioneer work in northern Canada. He served as a Chaplain in the Air Force during the war, was decorated by King George, and flew in operations. He now heads the Missionary and Maintenance Department and is the special preacher for St Andrew's Anniversary Services on Sunday October 26.
The Induction Service for The Reverend J Edgar M Palfrey as Rector of the Parish of Cavan will be held at St Thomas Anglican Church Millbrook on Tuesday October 28 1958 at 8 pm. The service will be led by The Venerable F G Ongley Archdeacon of Peterborough with guest preacher The Reverend R T Cathcart incumbent of Craighast parish. Everyone is welcome.
Mr and Mrs Edgar Fallis of R R No 1 Cavan will host an at home reception for relatives and friends on their 50th anniversary. The event is set for Tuesday October 28 1958 in the afternoon two to five and in the evening seven to ten p.m. hosted by their family.
