Manvers Council Seeks Resignation of Auditors

In Bethany Ontario on October 8 1957 Manvers Municipal Council held its regular meeting with Reeve Argue presiding. On motion the resignation of the current municipal auditors was requested. Other actions included by law readings on street plans, committee discussions on relief matters and a grant to the Durham County 500 Bushel Club. The meeting adjourned to November 5 1957 at 1 30 p.m. Events noted include harvest season reflections and upcoming St Andrew's 75th Anniversary services.

Women's Institute Plans Bake Sale in Coulter's Store

The Grey County Women's Institute met at Mrs. E. C. Richards's home for the October gathering with nine members and two guests. They scheduled a Bake Sale for November 2 in Coulter's Store and sent $5 to the Unitarian Service Committee of Canada. The program, led by Mrs. Wm. Armstrong, featured readings including Old Fashioned Thanksgiving and The Home Town, plus a life of Nellie McClung by Mrs. Armstrong. cairn remembrance was noted.
