A 6 year old girl Barbara Elizabeth Pinck fell through a well cover while washing a car at her home in Millbrook. Rescued from the water, she died despite medical aid and coroner involvement. Funeral held October 15 with large community sympathy.

Social Guests Visit Millbrook and Area

Local social notes recount visits from Cecil Ward and son Brian of Toronto to Millbrook on Monday. Alma Throope of Port Hope and Eric and Mrs McNellie of Toronto joined Hal Argue’s family Sunday. Stayner saw Mac Ingham attend the McLaren‑Ross wedding. Holiday visitors included Vern Goheen and Allan Goheen of London with Toronto guests. Larry Argue, an engineering student at Guelph OAC, spent Thanksgiving with his parents. Mrs W Gray of Toronto returned home with her sister. Other visits included Dr and Mrs Elliott of Galt and George Ingham of Cornwall. Weekend guests with Mr and Mrs IB Ingham included more Toronto and Toronto-area visitors.

Mass Initiation Public Invited to Come

Legion members wives and friends and the general public are invited to attend a Mass Initiation of Legion Members at Millbrook Armories on Wednesday evening October 23 at 8:30. Mayor J D Burnett with a Cobourg degree team will conduct the ceremonies. A hospital bed proceeds from a magazine drive will be presented to The Millbrook Red Cross Society. Admission is free. A large aluminum truck trailer mounted high on Billy Buckham's flat transport looked odd as it rode piggyback past King Street. The scent of burning leaves warned readers not to take the fine weather too seriously, since burning fallen crops signals approaching cold weather.

Donald McKnight Local Boy Gets Promotion

Donald McKnight son of Deputy Reeve J. H. McKnight of Cavan and Mrs. McKnight, former vice principal at Grove School, succeeds Lloyd Corbett as vice principal at Prince of Wales. Corbett becomes principal of Westmount School after the death of H. Victor Cunningham on September 12. Murray Paterson is appointed vice principal at Grove.
