Mr Merton Thexton of Zion line cut grass with a power mower last week and lost the top of the second finger on his left hand during the mishap.

Grace Church Millbrook and Centreville Presbyterian Centreville South Monaghan urged members and adherents to support Gerald E. Graham B A a Renfrew born 35 formerly of Cobden Ontario. Graham a Knox College Toronto grad will be ordained in Renfrew this month with induction set for June 1. He served overseas with the RCAF in WWII. Interim moderator Rev Gilbert Smith presided at the worship service.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Watt of Toronto visited with Mr. and Mrs. Hartlieb during the weekend. Also present were Mr. and Mrs. Ken Foottit and family with Miss Alice Hawkins who motored to London and Ingersoll to see friends. Other visitors included Mrs. G. H. Peebies of Colborne and Miss Marion Peebles with Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Peebles and Patricia, plus Mr. J. T. Crowley and his brother in Perth. Brampton hosts Mr. and Mrs. Harold Mills visiting Mr. and Mrs. R. Northey. Agincourt and Toronto partisans joined Mr. Basil Stephens, daughter Gail, and Mr. Terry Stephens with Miss Doris Pellett and Mr. M. J. Covey in the company of Mr. Chas. H. Barringer and family from Peterborough.
Warm southerly air raised thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon and early Wednesday morning in the district. The warm rain and daytime sun were described as aiding growth and activity in the area.
The May meeting of Millbrook and Cavan Teachers Association was held May 15 at Mount Pleasant School with Mrs. Hubert Lowes teaching. Public Health Nurse Mrs. Lyle Nattress spoke and a nutrition film was shown. Folders and posters were shared. Plans were set for a June picnic at Mrs. Cyril Fulton’s cottage on Lake Chemong.

A Strawberry Coffee Party will be held in the basement of Christ Church Bailieboro on Wednesday June 24. Supper starts at 7 30 p.m. and a short programme will follow. Admission is 50 cents for adults and 25 cents for children. All are welcome.
