Plans Begin To Rebuild Milford Local Airport

Civil Aeronautics Administration engineer J. D. Church and Utah aviation director Harlan W. Bement visited Milford to inspect the field. Airport manager Dern Osborn and councilman Jack Weston accompanied them. They noted damage from prior government use and estimated repair costs between 35 000 and 50 000 dollars.

Junior First Aid Class Organised by Civil Defense Effort

A junior first aid course runs each Saturday evening under director Miss Sophronia Hawley with students Mirinti Hollingshead Zola Hollingshead Susan McClunley and others. An adult class meets Fridays at the Beavragea Clinic directed by Mine Trawley with a long roster of enrollees.

Dial Phone Installation Progress On Schedule

Installation of dial telephone equipment for Mountain States Telephone Co is underway and on schedule. Starting June 14, about 125 phones, roughly one fourth, were connected earlier this week with Milford, then Frees land and his crew plan to move to Beaver to install dials in the county seat. The move from manual to dial was tentatively set for early fall.

Pathfinder Club Organized At Seventh Day Adventist Church

Pastor Sheldon Seltzer of the Seventh Day Adventist Church announces a Pathfinder Club is to be organized at the church. U of U Scientists Find Cloud Seeding Of No Value

Three University of Utah meteorology researchers reported at the American Association for the Advancement of Science meeting in Pasadena that cloud seeding programs across Southern Utah since 1951 yielded no value. Horses Evicted If Pairground Stables Not Cleaned

Twelve horses at the fairgrounds stables face eviction on June 27 if owners fail to clean the premises. The city council ordered inspection by the marshal and warned eviction from city property permits if conditions do not improve. The council also accepted a street right of way along 700 West and heard a water metering proposal to curb waste, but rejected immediate meter installation due to cost and water shortage concerns.

Milford to Get Three-Channel TV Link This Year

Milford and Cedar City may receive a three channel coaxial cable hookup within six months to a year if the Southern Utah corporation plans materialize. Be calante Service Corp received a one year exclusive franchise for Milford with a non exclusive 24 year extension. A transmitter at Black Rock near Milford will feed Cedar City and Milford signals should be within two percent of Salt Lake City's clarity. Engineers expect six months to install in Milford with a one year target for stability and equipment delivery. A $150 connection fee and a monthly service charge will apply.

Summer Band Hours Listed at Milford High

Milford High announces summer band hours under music instructor Ralla Vo Johnson. Beginning band meets 8 4 a m Monday through Friday, while all other bands run 10 to 12 a m Monday through Friday. Program continues through June with a one week vacation, then final three weeks in July. Students not enrolled should contact Mr Jolosyn.
