State Beautification Expert Visits Milford for Planning Aid

State beautification consultant Joh W. Hydy, brought by Raymond J. Ashton, will advise Milford groups on long range improvement and permanency of efforts. He plans county visits, coordination with local committees, and a June 25 briefing for city and county officials to outline steps for lasting Utah beautification.

Roy Schonian Speaks to Group in Washington

Fire department answers two calls in Milford

Milford's Volunteer Fire Department answered two alarms this week. First at P. M. Snowball's home where children playing with matches started a fire in a garage, destroying the frame building and a washing machine along with about 100 quarts of fruit. The adjacent chicken house was saved. a firefighter suffered superficial burns. Second call at Clinton Bond's home Sunday morning saw the roof near the chimney catch fire but neighbors stopped it before arrival. Siren failure delayed relay of the call.

State Centennial Queen to Visit Milford on Wednesday

The Milford Centennial Parade led by the Lady Lions committee features the State Centennial Queen Calleen Robinson of American Folk. Prizes for floats include 25, 15, and 10 dollars for adult and merchant divisions, with children’s social float prizes and special awards for decorated private automobiles. The parade also includes Milford Race Meet Queen candidates and local bands. Voting for Race Meet Queen closes Monday at 6 pm with Aishna Hardy leading, Barbara Lewis Mayer second, Margene Thompson third, and Waima Neeley fourth.

A social with fruit dessert followed the business session, with high prizes awarded and several attendees noted.
