Minersville Girl Crowned in 1947 Race Meet Queen

Miss Margene Thompson a 17 year old Milford High School senior will be crowned at the Doughters of Utah Pioneers program in the L D S Chapel Wednesday morning to lead a three day race meet. The event features a parade at 2 PM with Miss Calleen Robinson Utah Centennial Queen placing the crowns on the riders, and a Wednesday night dance at the Milford High gym.

A 19th century lineage claim links Edward Robinson as the first railroad conductor on the Liverpool to Manchester line aboard The Rocket. Fire at Posey home destroys garage

Fire officials believe children playing with matches started the blaze that gutted the garage behind the Charles Posey residence last Sunday afternoon. The loss included a set of mechanics tools a good heating stove clothing a quantity of fruit and other household goods.

Transient Dies in Milford Hospital

Henry Viening of Los Angeles died Monday night of coronary acclusion in Milford Hospital after a heart attack aboard a Union Pacific train. He and his wife were returning from a vacation in Michigan. he had a first attack at Rock Springs Wyoming, recovered briefly, then suffered a second attack before Milford. Body shipped to Los Angeles for burial.

Roy Benmalley of Mexico is in Milford hospital for treatment. A baby girl was born to Mr and Mrs Jess McKnight on June 19 weighing 9 pounds 9 ounces. Joe Benton, son of Mr and Mrs Dick Benton, underwent an tonsillectomy on Monday June 23.

Vernon Hughes Returns From Red Cross Aquatic School

Vernon Hughes of Milford returned Wednesday from Prescott Arizona where he completed a 10 day Red Cross water safety course. He attended as Milford chapter delegate and will serve as director and lifeguard at the swimming pool this summer. The national aquatic school offers intensified study in water skills first aid and accident prevention for qualified instructors.
