Ray Walker releases full schedule for the American Legion 49ers day-long event on Saturday June 25. Events include salute cannons at daybreak, a chuckwagon breakfast 6 to 9 30 pm, queen crowning by the Legion Auxiliary Patricia Williams in charge, children races with cash prizes, free swim for under 16 at Milford pool, horse racing at the fairgrounds, a two-section Forty-niner Parade at 7 pm, and dances from nine until midnight with a Southern Utah orchestra.

Milking Mayors to Compete in Logan Utah Contest
Milking Mayors of Utah will compete in a milking contest in Logan on June 17 and 18 as part of the Cache Valley Dairy Festival to crown the champion mayor of Utah and Idaho. Construction began last week on a uranium upgrading mill three miles north of Beaver and a half mile west of highway D1. Western Hemisphere Mills, Inc president R E Somer halder says the mill will stockpile ore from the U Beva and other Beaver County properties so milling can continue through the winter when mine access is difficult.

Sand Crane Sparks Power Interruption Damages Line
A Union Pacific power crane unloading sand on the old Frisco Branch contacted a 44 000 volt Telluride Power line around 1258 p m Tuesday, burning the line in two and disrupting service to Miersville and South Milford. No injuries. Kent Smoith and crew repaired the line and service resumed after a 1 hour 20 minute shutdown.
