University of Utah Summer School Registration Date
Registration for recent high school graduates and other students to enroll in the University of Utah Summer School is set for June 13 per Harold W. Bentley dean. Students may join the full summer quarter or either of the six week sessions. Classes begin June 14 for the quarter and the first six week session. Closing date is August 26. Courses include nine special workshops and regular classes across fields.

Survival City film shown at Methodist Church
A large crowd attended a Wednesday evening screening of Survival City in the Methodist Church. Dr. E. N. Davie, county Civil Defense director, narrated the film showing life before and after an atom bomb blast and stressed the slim chances of survival without protection. The Civil Defense meeting followed, with committee reports and explanations of ongoing training in Ground Observer Corps, First Aid, Ham Radio, and a storehouse group for emergency wheat and commodities. more information was available at the Beaver County Clinic.

Opening Day Fishing Described as Poor in Beaver County
Beaver County anglers faced generally poor opening day fishing with most catches below limits. Some returned empty creels while others reported fair hauls. Crowds lined creeks and lake shores though early morning and late evening offered the best chances. As stocking expands, sport is expected to improve with larger catches.

Smallest Milford 3D Class to Graduate
The Milford 3D A Sherman school will present the smallest graduating class in Beaver County on Sunday at 8 PM at the Seventh-day Adventist Church School. Eighth grade diplomas go to George Mayer Jr and Chester Miller. The program includes a chorus number, a talk on Gratitude by Chester Miller, a trumpet solo by George Mayer Jr, and a commencement address by Sheldon Seltzer titled Hurthes. The community is invited.

Memorial Week End Accidents Claim Two Beaver County Lives
Memorial week end accidents in Beaver County killed Craig Mortensen 17 and Arlene Marshall 3 instantly and left US Navy sailor Marion Barnes in critical condition. Laura King 83 of Centralia Kan also died. Barnes survived by leave from the Navy. Mortensen from Milford, the son of Hyde Mortensen, was a Milford athlete. Arlene Marshall was returning from a function with her family near Cove Fort when the crash occurred. Funeral services for Arlene Marshall were scheduled in Minersville.

The Tex Carson circus comes to Milford with two shows on Friday June 17. Acts include Dorothy Anderson the world’s greatest girl horseman with her Liberty Act worth 10000, Ponca Bill and the Congress of Rough Riders, aerial and acrobatic acts, iron jawed women, jugglers, clowns, trained dogs and ponies, Baby Jumbo the elephant, and other traditional acts. Building Under Way for Dial Phones in Milford
Construction begins on a cement block building at 258 South Main Street for Milford exchange dial service central office equipment. Completion expected in July with equipment installation to follow. About 580 phones to be replaced, a name numeral four figure numbering system to be used, Beaver and Minersville exchanges also converting. Project part of a $10 million Utah program with total expenditure near $200000 for three exchanges.

Panguitch Lake Set to Open June 11 in Utah
Utah Fish and Game approves a mid August eradication of Panguitch Lake trout with a June 11 opening. Anglers may harvest up to 20 trout daily before treatment, with a 10 fish limit needing wardens validation for totals beyond. Milford man George Metcalfe dies in California hospital
George Metcalfe aged 58, a well known Milford figure, died at 11 18 a m Thursday April 28 in a Sacramento California hospital from a heart ailment after 18 months of ill health. Mrs Metcalfe notified Milford friends.
