A new company, San Francisco Mines, Inc., to be organized in Utah, consolidates interests from the Frist Lal and Romanna Misting outfits and others to develop the Grampian and Horn Silver claims near Beaver County. It will issue non assessable 6 cent shares with 750,000 to Frisco Lal and Bonanza, 1,500,000 for King David and Horn Silver, and 500,000 for Pomosa, backed by California and Utah investors. Work includes high grade ore in the Swede shaft on the King David claim and tunnels planned to tap parallel veins. leases run two to five years with renewals.
The files containing applications for work in Beaver County have been returned from Richfield to the Utah State Employment Service office at Cedar City. The change aims to expedite handling of workers applications and unemployment compensation claims. Unemployed persons wishing to renew or file new applications should contact the Utah State Employment Service at Cedar City.
G I A women held the annual installation of officers for Sego Lily division No 500 of G I A to B of L E on Thursday afternoon December 16. Officers installed include Sadie Kitchenmeister president Alice Low vice president Wanda Holm insurance secretary Betty Dawson secretary Violet Jeffers treasurer Ethel Killam chaplain Flora Cuddy guide Marvel Connell sentinel. An 8 pm banquet at Union Pacific dining room followed with card games and prizes awarded to C F Decker A H Connell J P Holm Mrs J Jeffers Mrs A H Connell and Mrs C F Decker. decorations featured Christmas trees bells and a red carnation centerpiece.
San Francisco Mines, Inc. aims to drill hundreds of feet below surface along fissure veins of Grampian within a short distance, expecting stopes akin to those at Horn Silver. The proposed territory, including Lulu, spans unpatented claims about two miles north of Horn Silver and adjacent to Quad Metals. Sixteen claims comprise this group, with no deep details continued here.
Beverly Heslington, four year old daughter of Mr and Mrs D C Heslington, won first in Tuesdays semi finals of the amateur talent contest at the Firmage theatre. Betty Denny and Fonda Morrell tied for first on Wednesday. all three may advance to January finals for a chance to appear on amateur night at the Roxy Salt Lake City or on KSUB Cedar City. Contests featured readings, a trombone novelty, a tuba solo, dancing and other acts with transportation paid by the theatre.
