Milfords new shoe repair shop opens in the former automobile showroom across from the Martin garage. Pool, manager of the J. & Penney store in MH years, announces the opening of a new store during the holiday season in Seaver County. The building between White Market and Corner Drug Store has been remodeled with a partitioned area creating an office for Kira Realty and a model store ready for merchandising.
Bath Chapter No. 6 of Eastern Star installed officers on Monday evening December 13 with Mrs Frances Gill of Mt Pleasant presiding. Officers named included Dora M Casterline as worthy matron and William Cochran as worthy patron, among others. A turkey dinner preceded the ceremonies and guests S H Gill of Mt Pleasant and Harry Livergood of Los Angeles attended.
The World Service Missionary Society of the M E church held its monthly meeting and lunch at Mrs Ernest Uren’s home with thirteen in attendance. The next meeting is set for January 12 1938 at Mrs Lee Gray’s home at one o clock.
The Milford High School fete last Friday capped a two night drive to raise funds for the yearbook. Junior and Senior classes presented acts and stunts with strong performances. Carnival king Douglas Moore and queen Katharine Potheringham led the celebration while Joy Boys minstrel and a Freshmen burlesque drew cheers.
Norman Gillins Wallace Outen Frank Roberts James Mr Sorles and Dave Randall now work as teasors at Quadmetals Mine and report good progress on the 700 and 800 foot levels with an excellent ore showing on the 700 level. Superintendent Parley B. Fisher oversees operations with William H. Hendrickson as geologist and engineer. Africa $10 has 27 new radio beacons to guide flying busts.
Vernon M Burrs of Milford was elected master of Albert Pike Judge No 14 F A M at the lodge annual election in the Mason ball Tuesday evening. A group of about 50 Odd Fellows and Rebekahs traveled in a Challenger attached rail car to Caliente last Saturday afternoon after a month in Milford custody. They spent the night with a program, banquet and dance, then returned to Milford Sunday. The Keystone Traveler, started May 22, 1924 by Keystone lodge No. 78 I O O F of Bethlehem, carries lodges on tour and invites inscriptions on blank pages. Local contributions included a Union Pacific Streamliner scene with Mineral range backdrop and an oak-bordered panel by the Ould Fellows, both by Miss Marie Carlson.
L A Wynaught, vice president of the Utah Motorist Association, the state’s only affiliate of the American Auto Mobility Association, attended a Salt Lake meeting Monday where two new directors were elected.
Ford unveils two new 1938 lines at nationwide displays. A standard line with V4 60 horsepower engine offers economy and low maintenance, while a deluxe line adds style with a V8, redesigned front end, larger interiors, wood grain panels, optional radio speaker, and enhanced lighting.
