Banquet to Honor Woodrow Wilson by Beaver County Democrats

Beaver County Democrats set Saturday December 28 for a banquet at the Union Pacific to mark Woodrow Wilson's birthday. Tickets are sold by Commemorative Committee members and will close next Wednesday to give the dining room time to prepare for the crowd. The event starts at eight o clock.

Party for Departing Clerks After Salt Lake Move

Clerical staff from the M M office were honored at a send off party hosted by Mrs. Rt. Smith and Miss Mary Roper before departing for Salt Lake City. Guests enjoyed cards, dancing, and refreshments as several members left Milford for new homes in Salt Lake, including Misses Juanita Miller Letha Schow and Mrs. Marie King along with Messrs. School location chosen for state school in American Fork

American Fork wins state locating committee nod for the new state school for the mentally challenged in a statewide contest. Beaver County supporters pushed for Murdock Academy grounds but appear to be edged out. Mrs. John Killam traveled to Salt Lake City Thursday evening.

Milford Lions Club met at the Milford Hotel Cafe with few attendees. Members discussed Beaver town news and street holiday decorations, plus two new applicant names Willard Nichols and La Mar Otten. A Beaver trip to Salt Lake City to push road plans was noted. Next Milford meeting January 6 at Beaver, with a Xmas party planned at Odd Fellows Hall.

Beaver Mayor Election Count Upheld for Barton

A Beaver court ruled last Friday the municipal election tally was legal confirming Democrat John H. Barton as mayor over Henry Boyter. The decision cites insufficient evidence of counting errors that could have altered the outcome.

Carbonate ore hit at Moscow Mine near Milford

High grade ore opens on the 1566 ft level of the Moscow Mine near Milford. Ore runs 7 percent lead in two feet with additional rich sections and widening veins as development continues. Two shafts started December 5, output up to 27 mine cars, with drifting toward shale contact and main mineralized bed under Glory fissure.

Beaver Power Co Extends Its Line To Rural Areas

Christmas Tree Eve Invites Milford Children

Milford invites all children to the Union Pacific station platform on Christmas Eve at seven o’clock. Santa Claus is expected to arrive, possibly by a motor hand-car from the North Pole, after a minor reindeer mishap. A decorated tree and treats await, funded by a subscription drive at the restaurant cashier’s counter.

Pay Last Respects to Nathan Gillins

Funeral services for Nathan Gillins were held Thursday December 12 at the 1 D B chapel in Minersville. Bishop George Marshall presided. The Minersville choir sang Though Deepening Trials and Farewell All Earthly Honors. Prayers were offered by Moroni Myers and Joseph Banks. Speakers included T W Bolling and F D Williams. Miss Sylvia Rollins and Maude Myers sang Sometime We'll Understand. Gillins was sixty four and survived by his widow and one daughter.

Telephone poles arrive as AT and T lays line near Milford

Two crews work the pole delivery and line installation for the American Telephone and Telegraph Company north of town. Poles thirty feet long are placed at 130 foot intervals while a large drill operates daily. Foreman Mc Swisgein leads construction with Sorenson guiding surveying and right of way through rough country south of Milford, aided by town engineer M. P. Lewis.

Thiessen House Sold in Milford Property Transfer

A Milford property changed hands Monday as Sam Cline sold the Jack Thiessen house to C. F. Mattingly. The Kirk Realty Company handled the deal. The purchase price was not disclosed.

Christmas Tree Decorates Main Street For Holidays

A large Christmas tree was brought in from near Minersville by Myles White of the Telluride Power Company. It was set up on Main Street and will be lighted and decorated through the holidays as part of the Main Street decorations.
