Milford Hospital Auxiliary Receives Ford Foundation Grant

Mr and Mrs Luther Hardy visit their son in law and daughter Mr and Mrs Allen Heap in Parowan. They will spend the Christmas holidays with their children in northern Utah. SANTA ARRIVES IN Milford ON UNION PACIFIC TRAIN
Santa Claus will arrive in Milford on a Union Pacific special train at 4 o clock Saturday December 24. The Milford Volunteer Fire Department will escort him to the Bank Corner Christmas tree to meet children and pass stockings with candies nuts and apples. Judges selected for the Christmas lighting contest with $10 $7.50 and $5 prizes. A 730 PM music festival at LD S Church features the Community Junior Orion Society to debut the new singing group. The annual B and J Santa Claus party for children is set for 10 AM December 24 with adults excluded while children receive their goodies.

Milford Students Aim for United Nations Trip
Milford High School sophomores and juniors may join a Milford delegation to the United Nations in spring. An essay contest at Milford High School will select the local delegate after judging closes January and a speaking contest may follow. The Milford Lodges will cover about 310 dollars for the chosen student, with potential additional funding from other groups for an alternate.

Bertha Hickman Laid To Rest In Milford
Bertha Hickman, former Milford resident, laid to rest in Milford with graveside services. Born November 4, 1905 in Nephi, she married Desuetto Hickman in Salt Lake City in 1907. Survived by 13 children, 31 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, seven sisters and three brothers. Died December 10 from a stroke after a period of high blood pressure. She lived in Salt Lake City since 1948 and was active in the Relief Society and genealogical work. Out of town relatives attended.

PTA Sets New Attendance Mark At Gala
More than 200 local high and elementary PTA members teachers officers and patrons attended the social in the high school gymnasium. Lee R. Petty directed games after which the program featured a men's quartet reading piano duet and musical numbers. A banner was awarded to the fifth grade for most parents present. Committees led by Edna Nichols and Orion Memmett organized hospitality and entertainment for the event.
