Tragic Train Casualty Claims Life of Airheart at Winchester
Gilbert C. Airheart was killed when he boarded a moving Baltimore and Ohio freight car to throw off coal near his home in Winchester. The body was cut by the wheels. his widow Elizabeth Frye and four children faced dire circumstances. Surviving relatives include his parents, siblings, and extended family across Mt Jackson, Strasburg, and Winchester. The community aided the widow and children after the accident.

Horrible Workplace Death at Serdar Saw Mill
Isaac Herbaugh, 40, of the Z neighborhood, died after a saw accident at Serdar saw mill near Zepp on a mountain from Maurertown. He was cutting at full speed when he was sliced in two, his left arm severed and his head injured. the mill worker who operated the engine saw the fall but not the cause. He leaves a wife and eight children, a mother, a sister, and three brothers. Burial was at the Baptist church near Zepp. The tragedy cast gloom over the community.
