Masons Begin War Drive Amid Conclave Meeting
New York May activities dominated a three day Masonic communication at the Masonic Temple Sixth Avenue and Twenty fourth Street. A war relief fund is planned with a minimum of 1 000 000 and no maximum. Grand Lodge of New York State will send a commission to France to aid Masons in need. Resolutions endorsed relief plans including comfort for the wounded moral support for soldiers and reeducation of war derelicts. Grand Master Thomas Penner presided and 1760 delegates attended. Receipts reported 262 375 and five new lodges planned.

Law Plans To Assist Farmers In Orange County

Pierce to Lead a Brigade in the 27th Division

German code deciphered by U S authorities in Albany
The von Bernstorff code used by the German foreign office to monitor matters in the United States while the former German Ambassador was abroad has been deciphered reconstructed and turned over to Federal authorities by Attorney General Lewis. The code was seized during Bela Pasha in American intrigue and was the same code Hugo Schmidt sought to burn in the German Club in New York.

Port Jervis Men Hurt Riding to Work in Accident

Worry Over Draft Causing Mental Trouble
Erwin Vanderhofft, 25, of Boonton New Jersey, deranged by draft fears, was detained at Police headquarters after repeated travels from Paterson. May 2 Lieut Alonzo Seymour of 1282 Maple Avenue Peekskill was awarded the Croix de Guerre with star by France for directing heavy artillery fire from an airplane while under fire. A 28 year old graduate of Peekskill Military Academy he studied mechanical engineering at Cornell before enlisting in the coast artillery last May.
