Defective Chimney Spars Sunday Fire At Beacon Street House
A Sunday morning blaze at 7 o clock was caused by a defective chimney at 1 Beacon street. Fire crews from North Street and Wickham avenue battled flames. John Foster, an engineer, occupied the home with damage nearing 3200. Neighbor C B Ward was cut by broken glass and treated by Dr W L Neller. Insurance through Mrs A K Darzon covered the loss. Death of Supervisor John S Cooper at Middletown home
Supervisor John S Cooper died at his home 317 North Street Saturday after a four week illness. Born July 4 1858 in Newton XN he was a painter by trade and longtime Middletown resident. He served as city treasurer and as a member of the Board of Supervisors representing the First Ward. Survived by wife Annie Taylor, son Harry A Cooper, and two sisters Anna McCarter and Mrs Harvey L Sheppard. Funeral Tuesday at 2 PM from the home. Interment Hillside.

Police Seek Autoist Who Struck Wagon in Middletown
Middletown police hunt the driver of a Hudson touring car after it struck a wagon at Wisner avenue and Sorta street last evening and sped off. The wagon was slightly damaged but unoccupied. Officers Swinton Ladium and Ivan Broughton investigated but could not learn the car owner’s name amid heavy Sunday traffic and near misses at Orchard street and East Main.
