Old River Boat Is a Sad Light on the Hudson
Kingston flux report notes the James T. Brett of the Central Hudson Line recently sold and towed to Rondout as engines and brass are removed leaving only worn wood and iron. For saving the Western and Atlantic railroad bridge over the Chatta hoochee river from fire, he was purchased in 1849 and placed on the railroad salary. After the war, despite finances, an 1868 act authorized $562.50 from the road treasury and a lifelong home for him.
