Private Geradus B Higgins of Company F List Pioneers Regiment late of Ellenville and former resident of this city died in France November 25 of bronchial pneumonia. News reached his father Hugh Higgins December 10. He was 22 or 23 and had been in the hotel business with his father at the West End hotel in Ellenville. The family formerly lived in this city where the Oriental Hotel was run. Survived by his father, a brother in France, and sister Mrs James Ward of this city. Also listed on the casualty roll are Harold Lounsbury and Frank Lounsbury wounded slightly. Sergeant Wiliam Bailey and Mrs Grace Bailey wounded slightly. The death of Robert Roth at 70 near Callicoon Center on Tuesday December 3 revealed securities valued over 260000. Friends found a $200000 inventory in government and railroad bonds with 25000 in Third Liberty bonds. Roth’s body was sent to New York for burial after a legal fight involving District Attorney Feorg F. Gardner of Caillhcoven and others seeking the body and estate.

Port Jervis Teen Killed in Erie Car Collision
Port Jervis, Dec. 13. Frank Gleason, 16, of 4 New Street, was struck and killed today by an Erie locomotive yard car at the oil house on Pike Street. He stepped from behind a locomotive and suffered a fractured skull. Listed aboard the car were C. M. Lewis and T. Ragan, with crew Ernest Nast and C. W. Barley. Coroner H. A. Sheldon investigated.
