Fair and continued cool tonight with a slight warming trend into Wednesday. Temperatures expected to rise modestly and conditions remain dry with light winds inland and a touch of humidity near the coast.
Washington reports Secretary Baker and Gen March told the House Military Committee that by next spring the United States will mobilize eighty divisions for France, with eight million men between 18 and 45 to be drafted. The plan aims to press for victory by the end of 1919, allowing four to six months of training.
Clarence Glass of Otisville riding a motorcycle sustained painful injuries when his vehicle collided with an automobile driven by Dr. W. P. Hoelos of Altoona Pa. Glass had attempted to pass a L Stern Co delivery car on West Main Street near Mi Street and struck the Dr Heelos vehicle, which was moving toward James Street. He suffered injuries to his right limb.
In East Corinth Maine residents confront the shock of a longstanding disguise as "Cora" Norton, a person who posing as a girl for 23 years turns out to be Mr Eugene Cody Norton. Norton marries Miss Abby E Foster, a local teacher, in Augusta. The revelation stirs church members and a draft board inquiry follows due to nondelivery of selective service registration. Local widow Mrs Norton blames the deception on the late mother of Norton.
Five men sustained injuries when their Ford touring car overturned near Bridgeville Sullivan county at 11 AM. Driver Herman Glaser of Harleyville and four passengers from Hurleyville suffered bruises cuts and head injuries. They were enroute from Morningside Hotel Hurleyville to Monticello for the day. Dr J M Rosenthal of Monticello treated them. The car was badly damaged with a dented body and wrecked driving mechanism.
Rev. Stanard D. Butler arrives to preside over the Committee of Three Hundred meeting at Grace Church Parish House tonight at 8 oclock. The organizers urge a large attendance as business of utmost importance will be discussed. The casualty list today names 275 men with emergency addresses in Pennsylvania towns and notes five lieutenants killed. Lieut Earl R Churchill of Buffalo is reported killed in action as total U S army and marine corps casualties rise to 22 182. The list is divided into two sections for morning and afternoon papers.
An examination for chauffeur licensing will be held at City Hall at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning. The exam will be conducted by representatives from the office of Secretary of State Hugo.
Amsterdam dispatch to Exchange Telegraph reports hundreds killed or wounded in a battle between Leftish guards and rioters in Petrograd amid food shortages. Demonstrators shout anti German and anti Kremlin slogans as workmen march through streets near the Smolny Institute and martial law is proclaimed that evening.
Henry L. Jones, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Jones of 96 Fulton street, died at Portsmouth Naval Hospital after an illness while serving aboard the U S 5 Fulton 2 submarine tender. He enlisted July 2 last year and was part of naval efforts against U boats. His body will be brought to Middletown for funeral and interment with naval detail from Portmouth to attend. He is survived by four sisters and one nephew, with floral tributes expected from the city. The body is due to arrive Thursday.
The Children’s Year campaign mobilizes a nationwide weigh and measure test started April 6 to assess the welfare of over two million children. The program by the Children’s Bureau and the Woman’s Committee aims to prevent defects through early detection, contrasting with military drafts that showed fewer than two thirds fit for service, many due to preventable childhood issues.
A fine tobacco plant owned by S. M. Fritz, a cigar maker, stands in Brock's cigar store window on James street. Allied troops drive Germans from the Roye Lassigny sectors on a nine mile front. The advance covers two miles with a reported capture of about 3,000 prisoners as Monday actions unfold.

The bombardment of Nancy kills six civilians as British and American units seize prisoners and push along the Vesle front toward possible German retreat toward the Aisne or Chemin des Dames.
