Associated Press reports former Vermont Governor Prouty was killed when his automobile collided with a Grand Trunk train near Waterville Quebec. The chauffeur J W Blay suffered concussion. Papers in Prouty's pocket identified him as the passenger. He was bound for Newport Vermont to board a train for Japan when fog obscured the crossing.

Auto Wrecked in Smash-Up at Monticello
Monticello August 19 a new Dodge coupe wrecked in a crash with a Buick touring car driven by Benjamin Rubin of Bridgeville at the corner of Broadway and 2nd Street. Rubin’s car was moving from St. John Street onto Broadway when the speeding new Dodge struck the left rear wheel. The Dodge front end was crushed, Rubin escaped major damage but was furious at the risk to his safety.
