Ohio total employment rose 2 percent from August 1975 to August 1976 with unemployment falling from 8.9 percent to 6.4 percent of the civilian labor force. Nonagricultural payrolls rose 1.5 percent while total employment slipped 0.4 percent to 4.374 million. Seasonal drops in public school nonteaching staff contributed to the August decrease.
