Syracuse Rocked by Second Night of Disorder in South Side
In Syracuse New York police struggled to contain a second night of unrest in a predominantly African American neighborhood. Fire bombs struck three stores and six other windows were broken as tear gas dispersed a crowd of about 50 youths. Seven arrests followed including six on weapons charges. Mayor Walsh warned of a 21 curfew if needed. Civil rights leaders blamed police. A Sunday disturbance had left three jailed after stones were thrown and a grocery burned by a gasoline bomb.
