U S Marines discovered two fortified camps just below the North Vietnamese frontier with hundreds of bunkers and vast munitions stocks. South Vietnamese troops reported 98 enemy killed on the eastern DMZ flank as operations yielded more than 35 tons of supplies in three weeks.
West German police confront demonstrators led by Daniel Cohn-Bendit outside St. Pauls Church in Frankfurt on Sunday. Cohn Bendit was taken into custody after leading protesters during the event.
Moscow reports Zond 5 completed a lunar circumnavigation and splashdown in the Indian Ocean. Space experts including Sir Bernard Lovell and James Webb say a manned round‑the‑moon flight could occur in months, reshaping the space race dynamics.
Two Avianca jets and 139 people were hijacked from Barranquilla and flown to Cuba.
