Floating restaurant denied permit in Cleveland
The Flying Cloud, Cleveland's planned floating restaurant, was deemed not ship-shape by the city building department. A note to owner Jerry Powell cited inadequate sewage, faulty wood construction, and insufficient water supply, leading to denial of the restaurant permit. Powell bought the schooner in Norfolk and spent the summer converting it into a 150 seat venue valued at about $100,000. He criticized the city over the decision.
