NBC and CBS roll out new season offerings in mixed reviews
NBC opens the 1968 69 season with The Beautiful Phyllis Diller Show delivering a traditional variety format, while The New Adventures of Huck Finn debuts in animated form for children. Barbra Streisand’s Central Park special lacks production breadth though her presence remains compelling. NBC broadcasts White Paper Ordeal of the American City about urban woes, driven by Fred Freed’s thoughtful narration and stark visual contrasts.
