Golden Gate Bridge tolls will charge 50 cents for in city entry beginning October 19 while exiting tolls remain free. Bridge directors approve a 90 day trial to test reducing evening congestion in suburbs with an expected annual loss of a few hundred dollars from out of town drivers.
A car carrying Nina Lee Fisher and her five passengers including four daughters veered off Pennsylvania 68 near Hartstown and struck a tree. Fisher and four daughters died, with another child dying later at a Youngstown hospital. Jacquelina Quillen, the driver, survived.
