Common Cause filed suit in U.S. District Court to force disclosure of backers who contributed over $10 million to President Nixon's re election campaign before April 7. The action seeks names and amounts in the election fund support case.
U S B52s struck troop concentrations within 14 miles of Pleiku as part of a Central Highlands campaign. South Vietnamese reports noted two new attacks within seven miles of Pleiku, with enemy assaults driven back by bombers and artillery before dawn. John Gardner of Common Cause warned that funds raised before April 7 could still influence the election, despite new campaign finance law.
An American near Fuerstenfeldbruck air base described 10 to 12 single shots followed by bursts of automatic fire as helicopters landed and officials arrived. Authorities warned residents to stay in vehicles while police searched for armed terrorists still at large.
Munich AP reports 17 dead from the Arab raid on the Olympic Village including 11 Israeli team members and five terrorists, with a West German officer also killed. A gun battle at a military airfield ended the siege. the Games were to continue with IOC backing.
David Berger 28 an American-born weightlifter on the Israeli Olympic team was among nine hostages killed by Arab commandos. A Shaker Heights High School graduate, he held dual citizenship and moved to Israel in 1970 after visiting the country and liking it.

A continuous memorial prayer service ran from late Tuesday night into today at the Isaac M. Wise Temple in Avondale in response to the Munich hostage crisis. Rabbi Albert Goldman said about 11 p.m. the service began after many Jewish community members requested participation. About 36 worshippers gathered at one point. Goldman planned another service but moved it up due to the calls.
Police and the intelligence directorate say narcotics activity remains steady and predicts consistent enforcement. They note no major arrests since June when three men were held in two incidents and marijuana valued at over $600 was seized.
A Nixon panel study found most marijuana users do not progress to narcotics and called for ending private use penalties. Ohio penalties were already softened. Ferguson notes few narcotics calls due to odor, discusses where smoking occurs and challenges in identifying the plant, with local busts near Hamilton and Waynesville.
