Berlin reports say a group of pro Soviet parties formed a Democratic Bloc at City Hall to negotiate with the anti Communist city administration for the emergency’s elimination. Taegliche Rundschau accused western backed leaders of treason for Marshall Plan ties while signaling potential future moves.

A West Elkton man, Robert B. King, 26, was killed when a pick up crashed through a bridge and dropped 30 feet into a gorge. His wife Wanda Sue King, 24, was hospitalized in Middletown in serious condition. In Dayton, Detroit man John Henry Reed er, 39, died when his car overturned on Route 25 traffic circle. Three other passengers, Mae Francis 44 Lucius Thomas 38 Irene Thomas 29, sustained minor injuries.
Manila AP reports 30,000 natives evacuated from Camiguin Island as Hibok Hibok volcano erupts for first time since 1871. Avolcano opened a new crater a mile from the old. one man was saved from lava. authorities warn the activity may continue for some time.
Three Detroit detectives seized 20 slot machines and arrested two men after a shakedown cruise on the City of Grand Rapids from Michigan City to Chicago. The machines were moved to two staterooms beyond the three mile limit and later brought to the Detective Bureau.
The center of a gulf hurricane crossed Orleans Parish at dawn and moved toward the Mississippi coast. Winds near 95 mph gusts were recorded at Moisant Airport as the storm shifts course northeast. Rain totaled 6.75 inches in New Orleans with 4.2 inches in six hours, and 4,000 to 5,000 residents evacuated to safety as lake levels rise and flooding threats grow.
Gustav A Wiegner 24 of Dayton Ohio faces a preliminary hearing in Peace River District for the Alaska Highway slaying of John McComas 52. Crown counsel Peter Wilson will decide the hearing date. McComas’s 13 year old daughter Louise will testify at the inquest.
Sydney reports wreckage of a DC passenger plane missing since Thursday sighted on a mountainside about 000 miles northwest of the city. The Austral ian National Airways craft carried 10 passengers and a crew of three. Searchers say no one is believed to have survived.

James Early 22 from Huntington West Virginia was jailed after throwing a brick through a clothing store window opposite Detroit police headquarters. Curtis Boettinger 18 grandson of the late President Roosevelt is on his feet again in Los Angeles recovering from infantile paralysis. He was released from quarantine at Corona Naval Hospital and began exercises to strengthen him for discharge next Thursday.
State police report a fatal truck crash at about 2 25 am on Route 503 near Route 73 three miles north of Seven Mile. Mrs King died from a broken neck after the truck collapsed like a sandwich and pinned the other victim. King’s mother and stepfather, Mr and Mrs Robert Stivers of West Elkton, survive. The driver’s statements will be checked after she is no longer hysterical. Funeral arrangements shifted from McCoy Leffler to Webb Funeral Home in Hamilton.
Roger Spencer, three, son of Mrs Lector Spencer of 1003 Columbia Ave, was rushed to Middletown Hospital after reportedly swallowing kerosene. Fire Department emergency squad transported him by McCoy Leffler ambulance. Attendants say he is not believed to be in serious condition.
