Harvesters in New Hampshire Pick Apples Over Ideals
Dan Snyder from Maryland joined the Greenleaf Harvesters Guild, a 50-member group of high school dropouts and graduates pursuing alternative lifestyles, to pick apples in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. The guild donates 20 percent of earnings to charity and has fought labor- contractor rules while maintaining strict curfews and no alcohol or drugs. Members praise the work and the chance to learn about seasons and cooperation.
