Public Utilities Commission of Ohio spokesman John Ledingham warned large outdoor displays may darken to save electricity. Utilities could face a formal order if voluntary reductions fail. the commission urged reductions by cities, businesses, and public displays, while noting possible home priority over displays.
CG&E has not received PUCO notification calling for power curtailment to large Christmas displays. A spokesman said the utility would comply if asked but separating display power from ordinary use could be difficult and few municipal displays exist in CG&E territory. The Senate Rules Committee agreed to limit access to 1400 pages of FBI reports on Gerald R. Ford as fitness for vice president. They voted unanimously to call Ford first as a witness at hearings starting Thursday, while Senate Democrats urge deliberate consideration.
